Game on in the Wimbledon fashion wars

As this week has been full of tennis, tennis and Andy Murray's balls we thought we'd check out what everyone's wearing when not in their Wimbledon whites, and what better time to spy on them than as they descended upon the Kensington Roof Gardens in London for Richard Branson's annual pre Wimbledon bash. Ahead of the their appearances at the tournament anyone who's anyone in tennis showed up for Branson's party to celebrate the start of the fortnight long competition. World champion Maria Sharapova along with Venus and Serena Williams were just a few of the tennis beauties who rocked up in their finest to the tennis world's shindig of the year.

It's always a little bit weird to see sporty people in real clothes, kind of like own clothes day at school, we're so used to seeing these ladies in their gym kit that cocktail dresses came as somewhat of a surprise. Venus Williams looked elegant n a summery Amanda Wakeley cream dress that draped below the knee and Maria Sharapova went for a gorgeous girlie pale pink embellished Antonio Berardi number and a pair of scarlet spiked heels, completing her outfit with ruby red earrings. Serena Williams wore a short bold purple dress with a black mesh neckline, teamed with a glitzy necklace and earrings. Serena fought hard in the bright purple but we think Sharapova thrashed it out on the astro terf carpet and won in straight style sets.

Not to be outdone, many of the celebrities who attended the pre Wimbledon party gave the tennis starts a run for their money in the fashion stakes. Denise Van Outen,  Mollie King, Millie Mackintosh, Preeya Kalidas,  Heidi Range and Francesca Hull were all there to name but a few.

Denise Van Outen showed up with boyfriend Lee Mead and was looking super summery in her bright floral print dress, oranges, greens and purples being the main colour theme, she also opted for funky contrasting turquoise nails and coral wedge heels, she didn't over do the hair or accessories and kept the look beautifully natural. Outen finished the outfit off with a tan leather vintage shoulder bag that we just love.

Summery flower prints seemed to be a running theme in the celeb camp this year with Elen Rivas and Alize Cornet joining in the floral fun. Rivas wore florals in an off the shoulder long blue and purple number and Cornet wore a vintage black and white floral dress and teemed it with a glowing complexion which was just perfect for the rooftop garden party.

We of course have our very own garden full of floaty florals for you to choose from online at http://vintagechild.co.uk/ and have picked out a few vintage alternatives to the celebs choices for you. So while the play may be upset with rain we shall persevere with our summer clothes, as what's a British summer without a little rain?!
